Minister Of Transportation Ignasius Jonan said, AirAsia plan route Surabaya-Singapore lost contact in the Tanjung Pandan area, among Belitung islands and Kalimantan island after approximately 1 hour of taking off from Juanda Airport in Surabaya, East Java.
Ignasius said the current search being conducted by the combined forces of all stakeholders among the military, the Ministry of Transportation, Basarnas, and from Singapore.
"Focus search on Kalimantan area and the Pacific region, the search is done from the shore on the island of Belitung and Borneo," Ignatius said in a press conference at Juanda Airport, Sunday (28/12) afternoon.
In a press conference also attended by the family of the AirAsia flight QZ 8501 which came into Juanda.
